Aiken American roars to sub district win in Dixie Boys
Aiken American broke a 33 tie with four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to beat Williston 14 4 in the Dixie Boys 14 year old Sub-District tournament. Artavus Hughes had three hits to lead Aiken, Alex Pitts and Robbie Murren two each, Brandon Fulmer pitched three innings for the win. Aiken advances to face Bamberg or Batesburg Leesville tonight.

Weather Halts Three Sports Actions In Aiken Area Playoffs
A steady downpour postponed Game 2 of the American Legion playoff between Aiken Post 26 and Florence to 7:30 tonight after Post 26 dropped a 42 decision. Two Dixie Ponytails and Dixie Belles district softball games were also rained out and rescheduled. If weather allows, Games 3 and 4 of the Legion series will be in Florence Thursday and Friday, with a possible Game 5 Saturday in Aiken. Darvin Withers starts for Post 26, hoping extra rest helps both teams’ top pitchers. Aiken faces Belvedere and North Augusta vs East Columbia in Ponytails, while Dixie Belles feature Aiken vs East Columbia and Belvedere vs Orangeburg. Both Aiken teams won openers Monday.
