Owens-Corning Fiberglas to Lay Off 100 Workers

About 100 Owens-Corning Fiberglas employees will be laid off effective Monday due to reduced production from a sluggish economy. Plant Manager Bob Hrubala cited difficult economic conditions and weaker markets in industrial, electrical, and reinforced paper and tape yarns. The company has about 1,100 workers after 500 furloughs began last year, with 40 rehired in April to restart a yarn furnace.
