Princess Kiko Joins Japan's Imperial Family in Public
Princess Kiko, 23, a former graduate student from a middle class background, has become a national celebrity after her marriage to Prince Akishino. The couple visited Emperor Jimmu’s tomb in western Japan as crowds cheered. She is the second commoner to marry into the imperial family, following Empress Mi chi.

Hendrickson Wins On Copyright Suit In Rivera Case
Robert Hendrickson claims victory after a judge awards him less than the 310 000 he sought from Rivera over excerpts from the 1972 documentary Manson. Hendrickson acted as his own attorney and filed suit in May 1989 following Rivera’s televised Death Row segment. Gene Hackman, 60, remains in good condition after surgery aimed at preventing a heart attack. He is at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland receiving diet and exercise guidance with no set release date.
