Search Finds No Plane North of Belvedere Aiken County
A search by Aiken County officials north of Belvedere failed to locate any plane after reports of a possible downed aircraft. The sweep began last night and ran into early morning with witnesses noting lights and smoke. radar showed no aircraft and no missing plane was reported. Sheriff Ralph Gunnells said the absence of a flight schedule is unusual and authorities suspended further search pending new information.
