Aiken Standard crime and courts reporter Tripp Girardeau notes several fatal crashes. Kimberly Morgan Smith died after a Feb 14 SUV wreck on Old Barnwell Road with marijuana in her system. Charles Bowick died April 13 after a moped collision with a DUI driver and methamphetamine in Bowick’s system. Patrick Baxley died March 17 in a 2006 Toyota crash on Pine Log Road with alcohol and amphetamines found. Harmon Dennis Young, March 17, lost control on S C 19 due to unsafe tires while speeding.
