Safety-Kleen to leave Columbia for Dallas move

Safety-Kleen Corp plans to relocate from Columbia to Dallas starting in fall, affecting 600 jobs. The firm, a major hazardous waste handler and South Carolina's fourth-largest public company, has faced bankruptcy since June 2000 and posted multi-billion-dollar losses over five years. The move aims to leverage Dallas taxes and air access, with no job cuts before November 1 and no impact on Pinewood landfill operations in Sumter County.
