North Augusta Man Shot On Back Porch Dies At Hospital
North Augusta Public Safety reports Hubert H. Smith 42 of 765 West Martintown Road was pronounced dead on arrival at St Josephs Hospital after being shot on his back porch while retrieving firewood. Police call came at 6 26 p m. SLED is assisting the probe amid two recent murders in the area.

County Man Found Guilty Of DUI Gets Seven Months
An Aiken County man, Johnny Edward Cheatham, was found guilty of a second offense DUI after 25 minutes of deliberation in a General Sessions court. Judge Rodney A. Peeples sentenced him to seven months in jail.
