Rescue dogs get chance at better life with new wellness center
Home for Good Dog Rescue announced plans to build Almost Home, a canine wellness center on Whiskey Road to rescue, treat, and adopt dogs from high kill shelters in South Carolina. The story follows a German shepherd Rhodesian ridgeback mix saved and fostered before being adopted by an autistic boy in New Jersey, whose father wrote of the child's first words, Dog dog dog. Rich Errico, co founder and treasurer, explains transport between Aiken and New Jersey, where demand for adoptable dogs is high and neutering helps population control. The group, founded in 2010, now lists more than 150 volunteers and about 70 foster families. For information, call 908-598-8212 or visit homeforgooddogs.org.
