A gasoline tanker overturned and exploded on I-20 creating a massive black smoke plume. The crash halted interstate traffic for at least a mile with thirty seven tractor trailers lined up. Detours were set through Aiken.
President Anwar Sadat of Egypt announced he bought a number of France's supersonic jet fighters to offset Soviet Union supply gaps. He did not disclose exact numbers, saying they were much less than 120 and that delivery would occur in the years to come.

Aiken Knights of Columbus presented a $250 check with a promise of another. The list of new directors includes Patrick Baughman Rev Albert L Brodie and others.
