Ice storm triggers massive cleanup in Aiken County

An ice storm on January 26 2004 blasted the area with frozen rain leaving nearly 100 000 cubic yards of debris. Millions of branches fell from trees across Aiken County as residents and public works workers joined a months long cleanup moving debris to curbsides for pickup by trucks and loaders. The cold snap froze fountains and supported a large coordinated effort by individuals and the county.
