Home Educators win regional. head to Future City contest
The Aiken Area Home Educators win the regional Future City event at USC Aiken for the second year in a row, finishing ahead of Paul Knox Middle School and LBC Middle School among 34 teams from Augusta and beyond. Teams travel to Washington, D C next month to present essays, scale models, and answer judges questions.

Copper wire theft reported near Ascauga Lake Road
A sheriff's report says on Friday unknown subjects were seen gathering copper wire at Ascauga Lake Road in Graniteville then fled. Another resident on Lakewood Circle reported a car break in. A New Ellenton man was taken into custody after police found a gun under the seat on Main Street. An alarm Saturday at Ascanga Road in Graniteville showed an attempted break in with no items stolen.
