Investigators file more murder charges in Leaphart case

Investigators have filed additional murder related charges and arrests in the December 2007 killing of 20 year old Jeremy Leaphart. Aiken County Sheriff's Office arrested 16 year old John O Oakman Jr of Ridge Spring for kidnapping and murder. Lexington County officials hold two men Andre A Norris 26 of Batesburg and Darrell L Williams 24 of Moneta now charged with murder and accessory after the fact. Leaphart was abducted on Christmas Eve from Batesburg and killed later that evening in Aiken County. His body was found days later after a lengthy police investigation. Authorities say Oakman Norris and Williams rode with Leaphart to Hutto Pond Road and back to Lexington County with Williams aiding in disposal of the body. Leaphart’s aunt described him as hysterical during ransom calls in which he was asked for 5000 then 2500 dollars. Investigators note the victim had a prior Aiken County criminal history. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office or Midlands Crimestoppers.
