NASCAR breaks ground on its Hall of Fame in Charlotte
Dozens of NASCAR legends including Richard Petty, Junior Johnson and Darrell Waltrip joined NASCAR officials to break ground on the $107.5 million Hall of Fame project in downtown Charlotte. The facility aims to open in spring 2010 with about 40 000 square feet of exhibit space and a nearby 19 story office tower. The city will own the hall and NASCAR will receive royalties under a contract through 2038.
