Adult Development Center Offers Work and Hope in Aiken
Jewel Herrin and 50 adults with disabilities attend the Adult Development Center of Aiken County a nonprofit in a brick building at Richland and Lancaster Avenues. The center provides daytime care training and paid work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with crafts sewing and pottery and supportive classes. It costs about 4 300 per client yearly while the United Way funds 41 360 in 1981 and government contracts plus private donations support the program.
