Graniteville Company Earnings Fall Sharply in 1978 Results
Graniteville Company's 1978 sales fell to 26.548 million with a net income of 125 thousand dollars, or 0.03 per share, down from 1977. Q4 1978 showed a 1.653 million loss, or 0.38 per share, versus 3.469 million earnings. The board declared a 25 cent dividend payable March 1 to holders of record February 9, 1979.

Riley Seeks Salary Increase Alternatives
Gov. Richard Riley ordered an aide to explore options besides the proposed salary raise for state employees. Katherine Clarke, the executive assistant for fiscal matters, met federal officials and was advised the raise would exceed the 7 percent limit. Brown said a 6 percent average increase is under consideration but remains uncertain within federal guidelines.

Free Tax Help For Aiken Residents In County Office
Rep. C Marshall Cain says the South Carolina Tax Commission will send an auditor from Columbia to aid Aiken residents in preparing 1978 79 state income tax returns. The service runs February 14 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. in the county complex on Richland Avenue and may be extended if demand remains high.
