Spartanburg County ROTC instructor Maxie Carroll Miller, 49, was jailed on $30,000 bail after a high school student accused him of kissing and groping her. Miller faces second degree assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct as investigators say a Broome High School student reported the incident after the class, leaving details uncertain about legal representation.

Beaufort attorney Michael T. Jordan, 45, pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud for stealing 2.3 million from a client and wiring 23 million to himself before fleeing to Canada. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a 250,000 dollar fine. Prosecutors say he took funds from his office trust account for four years prior to his departure.
