A bill would raise the full driver's license age from 18 to Unity. Teens as young as 15 can drive with a permit during daytime after 90 days of education and testing. Lexington County Aims to Replace Property Taxes With Higher Sales Taxes

Three Lexington County councilmen propose eliminating property taxes statewide in favor of increased sales taxes. The plan would raise sales taxes 3 cents per dollar, add 5 cents per gallon on gas, end the tax cap on vehicles and mobile homes, and use lottery funds to back the change. If approved locally, it goes to the Legislature and Governor Hodges for consideration and a future voter referendum.
