Conway Boycott Firing Seen In Different Lights
Five months after black players walked off Conway High School football to protest a white player replacing a black back, residents dispute whether racism exists in the town. A bi racial task force was appointed as protesters picket Main Street and accuse city officials, the school board, and coach Chuck Jordan of racial bias. Jordan said the switch aimed to discipline Hunt, who refused to follow on field. After 31 of 37 black players boycotted, the team finished 1 11.
