Aiken County deputies responded to a 2am North Augusta house fire reported by a resident staying there. The blaze started in a fireplace and was extinguished. one person was treated for burns. Fire officials say the incident did not appear suspicious.
Darryl Lawrence, 37, of Richland Avenue, is charged with robbery armed with a deadly weapon after allegedly demanding 85 from his mother at her Newberry Street home. Police said he showed a gun, obtained $5, and fled in an old white SUV before being arrested later that night.
