GVW Inches Toward Incorporation of Graniteville Area
The Graniteville Vaucluse Warrenville incorporation plan would create a 19.5 square mile city near Ludlow Lake Road to Robert Bell Parkway with a projected population near 7,200 in 2000 and potential to rise by 2010. A committee estimates funding via federal state revenue and local option taxes to cover operations, with police contracted from Aiken County and fire services via a volunteer department. Local leaders caution on taxes while stressing future services, and neighboring cities review the plan.
