Seven arrested in Norfolk Southern check fraud case

Seven people, two men and five women, were arrested for altering drivers licenses and defrauding Norfolk Southern of thousands in aid funds. At least 15 others are being sought for similar address changes to receive railroad reimbursements, with suspects scattered as far as Lexington County. Water main break causes traffic delays on Whiskey Road

A water main break near Berrie Road tied up Whiskey Road most of Thursday as Aiken Public Works crews diverted traffic for hours. Assistant director Tim Coakley said crews began around 9 a.m. to fix a leak that grew into more extensive work than expected. He described the hole as about the size of a finger.
