Rivera on Stand in Capital Trial With Psychopathy Claims

The Richmond County case against Rivera heads toward a verdict with prosecutors seeking death and defense urging a guilty but mentally ill verdict. Two doctors testified Rivera is a psychopath with brain dysfunction and mental illness factors, though Georgia law allegedly limits psychopathy as a mental illness. A hearing on admissibility of testimony from a sexual addiction expert is set, with closing arguments possible this afternoon and a potential second sentencing phase to follow.
