The City of Aiken edges toward selecting a permanent city manager after Richard Pearce resigned in June. Interim manager Roger LeDuc remains in place under a six month extension at 65 dollars per hour for up to 34 hours weekly, while Slavin Management Consultants from Georgia was hired for 20 thousand dollars from the contingency fund to assist the search. About 50 applications were received with most from out of state, but Mayor Fred Cavanaugh says none met the city’s standards for qualification.
