Israel announces a unilateral cease-fire after 22 days of fighting in Gaza. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says Hamas was hit hard and that Israeli goals were achieved, while soldiers remain in Gaza and Hamas vows to continue fighting until withdrawal. About 30 rockets were fired as the cease-fire took effect. Over 1,100 Palestinians and at least 13 Israelis have died. The campaign ends at 2 a.m. local time.
