Fugitive Mathis suspected in 1990s carjacking and assault case
Aiken investigators continued pursuit of Mathis linked to a Jan 10 1990s era incident. Witnesses described a dark skinned male with gold teeth in a white Ford Explorer style car after a sexual assault near Hahn Village. Casings from a .38 cal handgun were found, and Mathis faces charges if captured. Mathis gained notoriety in 1996 after an acquittal in a 1995 carnival worker murder case.
