Fired SRS worker alleges retaliation for speaking out
Christopher Lawrence of Hanover Illinois and Atlanta filed Jan 14 in Aiken Circuit Court claiming wrongful termination from Savannah River Site after 14 years as a grade 18 production operator in nuclear materials management. He says SRS punished him for informing coworkers of their rights, breached the personnel manual and failed to terminate properly, seeking more than 140000 in damages. Attorneys for SRS have 30 days to answer.

Area churches join for ACTS fundraising musical benefit
Ten church choirs and bell ringers will present Area Churches Together Singing on Thursday Jan 30 at 7 pm to raise money for ACTS emergency needs program. ACTS serves 77 member churches in Aiken County with food and other aids. last year the event netted about 96 thousand dollars. Proceeds support food and emergency services for the less fortunate.
