Nestle to buy Ralston Purina in $10 billion deal

Nestle S A to acquire Ralston Purina for 10 billion in cash plus assumption of 1.2 billion debt. Price of 33.50 per share represents a 36 percent premium over the recent close with Nestle forming Nestle Purina Pet Care by merging Friskies and Purina with Ralston. Patrick McGinnis to head the North American unit. regulatory and shareholder approvals ahead.

$250 Million Gift to Create Coleman Institute at CU

Silicon Valley entrepreneur Bill Coleman and his wife Claudia donated a record 250 million dollars to the University of Colorado to establish the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities. The funds, paid over five years, support research on technology aiding people with disabilities including Down syndrome and autism.
