Lawmaker weighs permit requirement for large water withdrawals

South Carolina Senator Campsen proposes a bill requiring large agricultural users to obtain a permit rather than a simple registration for river withdrawals. The measure follows concerns over Walther Farms drawing up to 805 million gallons monthly from the Edisto system and aims to close a loophole in the 2010 act. Petunia Opens With Mead Hall Kindergartener Debut

Isaiah Heyward, age 3, attends Mead Hall kindergarten as four professional opera singers stage the world premiere of Petunia. The children watch Bianka Roso and cast members Shannon Kessler John Dooley and Kevin Ginter perform the children’s play based on Roger Duvoisin’s 1950 story.
