Woman dies in I-20 crash near Aiken

Aiken County Coroner reports Consuela Evetta Ward 22 of Richmond Virginia died when an eastbound car crossed the median on Interstate 20 near Aiken and collided with a tractor trailer. The car’s driver Punyinika Jackson Durney 17 and passenger Torrience Durney 20 were injured. Truck driver Daniel Evett 49 of Alabama was unhurt. The wreck remains under investigation.

Registration closes today for education workshop Batesburg Leesville

Pre registration for the Partners in Education workshop with Dylan Pritchett of Williamsburg Virginia has been extended through today. Vandalism, break in reported on Silver Bluff Road

Aiken Department of Public Safety investigated vandalism at two stores on Silver Bluff Road with $200 damage and charged as malicious injury to real property. Earlier a rental on Wildwood Road was unlawfully entered, with $400 in paint damage. investigators continue.

Beech Island plant unveils new Kleenex Cottonelle tissue line

Kimberly-Clark relaunches Kleenex Cottonelle premium bathroom tissue at its Beech Island mill with a new proprietary texture. Mill manager Jim Taylor says the site’s selection reflects workforce skill and management confidence. The plant installed a state of the art tissue machine, first of its kind in the United States, using technology from Villey Saint Etienne France to produce a stronger, softer, more absorbent tissue.
