Barnes Says Tax Increase Not Needed To Meet Cut-Backs
Aiken County Administrator W Scott Barnes told Kiwanis the 1987 year will be one of cut back government due to federal revenue sharing cuts. He urged cooperation with public and private sectors to avoid a 12.5 mill property tax rise and said the county will tighten operations and set clear priorities. The extent of any tax increase would depend on state options and possible service reductions affecting USC Aiken and other agencies.
