Salt Waste Facility Approved at Savannah River Site
The DOE approves full construction of the Salt Waste Processing Facility at SRS to process 33 million gallons of radioactive liquid and salt cake. Parsons will design, build, start up, and operate the SWPF, with peak staffing over 400 and a $1.34 billion budget. The facility will separate high activity radionuclides for vitrification at DWPF or disposal at Saltstone, reducing canister count and life cycle costs.
