South Carolina Rep. Chris Corley 36 faces upgraded domestic violence charges after an alleged Dec 26 incident at the Graniteville home. He is due for a Jan 18 bond hearing on high and aggravated DV and a gun charge, prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
A North Augusta event at Papa John’s on Edgefield Road runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to address a national and local blood shortage. Shepeard Community Blood Center reports a one day supply of O Positive blood and urges donors to help stabilize the local blood supply. Suzanne Fanning notes declining donors since January as hospitals face ongoing demand.

Shane Lichting Jr. received 135 months in federal prison for use of interstate facilities in the murder for hire scheme and retaliating against an informant. He had prior Montana case in 2007 and a 10 year edgefield sentence for hiring schemes involving his former wife. The FBI was tipped by an inmate who agreed to help but alerted authorities. Lichting aimed to kill his wife before a January 2016 halfway house release.
