A 20 year old nursing student at a Christian college seeks tips to attract the right partner on campus. Abby suggests being oneself and creating chances to interact, such as joining campus activities and studying together before exams. The column also covers relationship strain in a Marine boyfriend, and a legal-ethics note about pornographic photos in a small town setting.

Children's book awards announced by ALA

The 2004 Newbery Medal went to Kate DiCamillo for The Tale of Despereaux, while Mordicai Gerstein won the Caldecott Prize for The Man Who Walked Between the Towers. DiCamillo, 39, said the story grew from a request for an unlikely hero with large ears. Gerstein, 68, tied the prize to memories of the 1974 tightrope walk between the World Trade Center towers.
