Leaves of Mystery Oak In Columbia Grower Describes Large U Shaped Leaves
John Nelson describes a strong oak in Columbia with a 70 foot height, dark blocky bark, dense wood, and a striking two toned leaf underside. He notes variable leaf shapes from young to old branches, red brown autumn color, and years of heavy acorn production attracting wildlife. The piece promotes champion tree designation and herbarium resources.
