Former cop pens crime debut inspired by his years on force

New York State Trooper Robert G. Clark, after four years on the job, used his law enforcement experience to write Borderline Terror, a Marc LaRose mystery. The novel follows detective LaRose across New York and Canada in a whirlwind tale of conspiracy and death. Clark, who lives in Aiken with his wife Delena, received a Nixon letter praising his actions in a 1972 shootout. The book, published under the pen name R George Clark, reflects Clark’s 30-plus years in policing and other work.

River of No Return overview by David Riley Bertsch

Book review of River of No Return, the second Jake Trent thriller set from Jackson Hole to Washington and China. Jake Trent, a Wyoming fishing guide and ex DOJ operative, faces a kidnap plot, a Liberty of the vixen, a U.S. senator villain, and a steelhead fishing scene amid brisk prose and a cast of locals. The review notes plausible but stretched twists, with Bertsch praised for vivid scenery and a likable lead and cites his earlier Death Canyon as the first in the series.
