The text explains fear and intense arousal can trigger fatal outcomes through physiological stress. It cites a case from Dennis Coon’s Essentials of Psychology where a woman dies shortly before her predicted birthday, attributed to terror, plus other instances of death by fright from battles or mourning. It notes fight or flight responses raise heart rate and alter metabolism, potentially killing especially vulnerable individuals.

Could you outrun a dinosaur on a Mesozoic plain

Zoologist R McNeill Alexander analyzes footprint remains and weights to compare human speed with dinosaurs. He suggests a 37 ton brontosaur could match an elephant in athletic ability, while a 7 ton Triceratops might gallop, though not as fast as a buffalo. A fast human tops 27 mph briefly, 22 mph on average, making pursuit uncertain and terrain and condition crucial.
