World's Largest Rubber-Lined Waste Tank at SRS Complete
Savannah River Remediation announced Salt Disposal Unit 6 at the Savannah River Site finished leak testing in late 2016. The 32 million gallon, 42 foot structure uses 12 500 cubic yards of concrete with over 7 000 epoxy bonded rubber pieces inside making it the largest rubber lined tank on earth. The tank will receive processed nuclear waste turned into glass and concrete and linked to site systems after readiness reviews.

Free adoptions for veterans at Aiken shelter and FOTAS
Veterans and active duty can adopt dogs and cats for free this month at the Aiken County Animal Shelter with support from donor funds. Dogs cost 70 dollars and cats 35 dollars normally, with vaccines, spaying, neutering and microchips included. The effort partners with FOTAS and Jerry Lyda of Veterans K9 Solutions to assist veterans seeking service dogs for PTSD or companionship.
