An Aiken man, Anthony Meeds, 41, was charged with abuse after a woman brought her child to an emergency room with a black eye. Police said a social worker reported the child’s CT scan showed a small brain bleed and trauma caused the bruising.
Dumpster Depot in Aiken collects five Christmas trees today for recycling. Trees go to the Army Corps of Engineers to create fish habitats at Lake Thurmond. A 21-year-old Aiken woman was charged with shoplifting after attempting to take several items from a Whiskey Road store without paying. A separate fraud report involved a 60-year-old Aiken woman who gave a caller her credit card number, leading to a negative balance. Three vehicle break ins on Corporate Parkway saw windows broken and two purses stolen. Additional shoplifting on Beech Island Avenue and burglaries on Byars Lane and Jessica Street were reported along with a vehicle break in on Columbia Highway.
Ashley Diamond Young, 21, of Partridge Bend Road, was jailed on shoplifting and simple marijuana possession charges after concealment at Wal Mart on Whiskey Road. An officer found a cigar package with heroin in her purse and later a marijuana bag in her genitals during a jail strip search. Investigators await test results on a crystalline substance.
