The Aiken Standard corrects two errors from 2014 reporting: Todd Brown of Warrenville pleaded guilty to fatally shooting Lacey Parker and was not the owner but a manager at Brown's Tire Services. Also notes Corinne Kenney will exhibit at the Aiken County Visitors Center during January.
Aiken County jurors convict Markese East of murder armed robbery and burglary in the 2013 Jones death at a Crosland Park home. East receives 30 year sentences to run concurrently along with three co-defendants who pleaded guilty.
SCE&G crews replace aging wooden poles with steel structures along the 118 bypass east of Aiken as part of a state maintenance program. Poles 102 to 117 feet tall, some near 150 feet, will boost reliability from winds up to 135 mph. Workers note set times and elimination of guy wires reduce visual impact and improve resilience.
