Fire Marshal cautions keep flammables three feet from heating devices and children away from open fires. Plug space heaters into walls, inspect cords, and use carbon monoxide detectors on every level with fuel heaters. Use dry wood in stoves, cool ashes completely, store in a metal container, and remove ashes at least ten feet from buildings.
Aiken area schools announce two hour delays for today and Friday due to expected temperature drop. Detectives traced a mysterious death to family friends the Sharkeys at their Stillwater Road home. The residence was condemned after investigators found trash and human waste.
