Mississippi overtakes for nation's highest teen birth rate

A federal CDC report shows Mississippi leads in teen births in 2006 with 68 per 1 000, more than 60 percent above the national average of 42. Texas and New Mexico also high at 63 and 64 per 1 000, while New Hampshire remains the lowest at 19 per 1 000. Experts note big shares of Black and Hispanic teens in the states and suggest the rise could be a statistical blip.
