Rainfall Rains On Aiken Augusta Area With Weekend Prospects

The Aiken Augusta region has received 2.84 inches of rainfall since Thursday with more expected over the weekend. Bush Field logged 1.76 inches on Thursday and 1.08 by 8 a.m. today, meteorologist Stephen Hodanish said. The outlook calls for 0.5 to 1 inch in the next 24 hours and 1 to 1.5 inches before the system leaves. Forecasters warn storms in Florida could deepen rainfall in Georgia and South Carolina. No flood watches are in effect as of now. cumulative January rainfall hits 3.66 inches, with a record 8.91 inches in 1987. Conditions caused hazardous driving, including a tree blocking Connector Road near Langley. The weekend forecast stays rainy with a 70 percent chance tonight and Saturday. highs in the low 70s, lows near 60. Rain remains possible Sunday through Tuesday.
