Time capsule from 1795 hidden at Massachusetts Statehouse
Conservators at the Museum of Fine Arts opened a 1795 time capsule embedded in the Statehouse cornerstone. They found five folded newspapers, a George Washington medal, a silver plaque, two dozen coins including a 1655 issue, and the Massachusetts Commonwealth seal. The box, laid by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, was moved to a second container in 1855.
