Volunteers Aid Sick Eagles In British Columbia Token Recovery
Dozens of volunteers helped locate and treat bald eagles poisoned by a cow carcass near Nanaimo. Ninety percent of 23 birds in a clinic appeared to recover, with three dead and two dying earlier. Birds warmed, some ready for release as owners blamed barbiturate-laced meat.

Israeli soldier wounds Palestinian after attack in Tulkarem
In Tulkarem the army says a Palestinian attacker stabbed a female Israeli soldier and was shot. The Palestinian suffered moderate wounds while the female soldier had minor hand injuries. Demonstrations spread through the West Bank and Gaza. Israel imposed curfews on Tulkarem Balata and Khan Yunis. The UN Security Council urged Israel to refrain from deportations.
