Mr and Mrs Cliff Jones reported two cows wandering into their yard on Saturday. By Sunday two more appeared and by yesterday the herd reached 28 before the owner retrieved them. Mrs Jones said she enjoyed the free fertilizer. Vincent V Vinci a New York horseman visited town awaiting trainer Stanley Dancer who was due from Fort Lauderdale Fla. The press arrival sparked Vinci to quip Can anyone keep a secret in this town The bystander replied No Aiken is a town where everyone knows everyone else yet reads the paper each morning to see who got caught at it.

Full roster for opening of 1978 General Sessions court

Aiken County opens the 1978 General Sessions term Monday with Judge Rodney Peeples presiding for six months. Grand Jury to report at 10 a.m., petit jurors at 10 a.m. Tuesday, defendants and attorneys by 10:30 a.m. Monday. About ten carry-over cases from December and roughly 40 indictments expected.

Riegel Chairman To Speak At Aiken Chamber Banquet

R.E. Coleman leader of Riegel Textile Corp will address the 1978 Annual Meeting and Banquet of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Aiken next Thursday at Millbrook Baptist Church Activities Building.
