North Augusta Republicans set filing window for council race
North Augusta Republican Party Chairman Walker Posey urged would be candidates to file between now and noon January 12 as two council seats and a councilwoman position begin the 2024 election cycle. The primary is slated for February 10 with a runoff if needed February 24 and a general election on April 28. The party unveiled a new website www.northaugustagop.org to guide filings and volunteer involvement and plans for candidate forums and meetings.

One Dead In New Ellenton Shooting

Man Arrested in Aiken for Heroin and Meth Possession
A 35 year old Knoxville man was arrested during a traffic stop on East Pine Log Road near Banks Mill Road after officers found what appeared to be heroin and meth in his vehicle. He was wanted in Tennessee, could not provide a driver's license, and a narcotics dog alerted to the car.
