Hope l ands Gardens cedar wood benches crafted by retirees
Dan Johnson and Tony Sealy, retired engineers, transformed a dead Deodar cedar from Hopelands Gardens into four benches for the park. The cedar, in front of the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum, dates back over a century and was bequeathed to Aiken in 1970.

Drowsy driving risks highlighted by CDC study
A CDC study surveying 147000 adults in 19 states in 2009 2010 found about 1 in 24 recently fell asleep while driving. Officials estimate 2.5 percent of fatal crashes and 2 percent of nonfatal injuries involve drowsy drivers with models suggesting up to a third of fatal crashes may involve fatigue.
