Aiken Newcomers Club to Meet at Houndslake

The Aiken Newcomers Club meets Tuesday January 13 at Houndslake Country Club with 10 a.m. registration, 10:30 a.m. business meeting and 10:45 a.m. massage therapy program by Stuart Farnell of Farnell Clinic. Lunch at 11:30 costs 10.50. reservations due by Thursday January 8 at noon. Millbrook Baptist breaks ground on 89,000 square foot worship center

Groundbreaking at Millbrook Baptist Church for a $10 million addition behind the former SRP Credit Union site on East Pine Log Road drew hundreds of congregants. Century Builders foreman Century Builders project manager and church leaders described plans for a two story sanctuary with 2100 seats and multiple rooms amid 18 month construction.

Clock tower tops off new medical practice in North Augusta

The Center for Primary Care completes its clock tower at the North Augusta Health Center on Hugh Street near Knox Avenue and plans an interim Knox Avenue office for early scheduling. Dr. S Lynn Mishra will lead primary care at the new facility as the first of a planned four physician staff.

Taxpayers push to strip Aiken district autonomy

The Aiken County Taxpayers Association plans to present a proposal to the Aiken County Legislative Delegation at Aiken Technical College at 5 p.m. on Thursday seeking revocation of the school district’s fiscal autonomy.
