Independence Air to cease operations amid bankruptcy
Independence Air announces it will cease all flights after 7 p.m. Thursday as part of bankruptcy proceedings. The carrier, once known as Atlantic Coast Airlines, struggled with finances after filing for protection in November. About 2,700 employees face layoffs with 180 remaining to wind down the carrier. Refunds via bankruptcy court will be provided for certain passengers, but vouchers and free tickets may not be refunded.
