High Winds Hit Aiken County With Power Outages
Strong winds and heavy rains plagued Aiken County with about 30 homes losing power overnight. Utilities report outages mainly in Williston New Holland and Wagener while a Mattie C Hall Health Care Center on Laurens Street also lost service as temperatures fall into the mid 20s tonight.

Aiken Woman Dies From Stab Wounds
Dorothy Irene Nelson 30 of Aiken died from multiple stab wounds with internal bleeding. Found in her car on New Year’s Eve, the case remains under investigation by Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. A suspect, Matthew Scott Young 19, of North Augusta, was charged with murder after a weekend incident near Midland Valley Plaza. The .38 revolver used was recovered near Young’s home.

Aiken postmaster Don Dulaney says the annual flow of state and federal personal income tax forms has begun with the wave set to pick up.
